Hello, I’m Heath Holland, a Licensed Master Social Worker, full-time firefighter, and ordained minister for chaplaincy. I have worked in a variety of clinical settings, including corrections and inpatient care facilities, before finding my passion for working with first responders and veterans. This passion led me to start my career as a firefighter, which offers me a unique perspective of the veteran and first responder communities and their relationship with mental health.
I began my career providing counseling to adolescents at Waco Center for Youth and Bill Logue Juvenile Detention Center in Waco, TX. I later served as a college chaplain, believing spirituality to be vital to holistic care. As my clinical skills grew, so too did my awareness of the struggles faced by veterans and first responders in their daily lives. Following a break from counseling to establish myself as a full-time firefighter and paramedic, I returned to the mental health field with a profound understanding of the culture and behavior of first responders.
I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a gold standard of trauma treatment, to help adult clients process their experiences. I offer therapy sessions in-person and online to better meet the demands of the shifting schedules of first responders. While I adhere to the Christian faith in my personal life, my role as a chaplain enables me to support individuals from diverse religious backgrounds (or none at all). Healing the whole person is my top priority.
Heath is a contractor and is supervised by Amanda Noyes, LCSW-S.
