Meet Katelynn

Hello, I am Katelynn Wright, a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. I started working as a 911 dispatcher in 2018. Throughout my career, I have struggled with some of the toughest calls and found that there wasn’t enough support for 911 dispatchers. Being a first responder changes you and I am passionate about making that change a positive instead of a negative. I received my bachelor’s degree from Tarleton State and my master’s degree from Midwestern State. I am currently pursuing my doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy at Texas Wesleyan where I hope to delve into the effects of being a first responder on relationships. 

I started my professional mental health journey in 2022. Prior to that, I worked for non-profit organizations, government agencies, and cities. I have worked alongside officers and firefighters, many of whom have experienced traumatic circumstances. These traumatic experiences have stemmed from both childhood and on-the-job exposure. The harsh reality is that our first responders and military can’t just leave work at “the office,” and it can feel all consuming at times. I obtained my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling to help bridge the gap and provide the support, assistance, and care that many have never received.

At Finding Freedom Therapy, I specialize in first responders, those who serve or have served, and anyone who has gone through a traumatic experience. I believe in a holistic approach to counseling which means I will treat you as a whole and not just the symptoms that you are experiencing. Trained in Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), my goal is to meet you where you are and walk with you until you reach where you want to be.
